831st Bombardment Squadron patch belonging to Thomas R. Fry

The Walt Disney Studios designed emblems and insignia for military units during World War II. Over 1,200 insignia were created, some featuring iconic Disney characters, including Donald Duck, Pluto, Goofy, and Mickey Mouse.

In 1944, the Walt Disney Studios created an insignia for the 831st Bombardment Squadron, 485th Bombardment Group, Fifteenth Air Force. The squadron insignia depicts Timothy Mouse, from the animated feature film Dumbo, on the wings of a B-24 plane dropping bombs below.

This leather patch with the Disney designed insignia belonged to Thomas R. Fry (1923-2009), of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He served in the 831st Bombardment Squadron during World War II.
